I was tagged by the awesome Trista at Domesticated Momster. This is my first blogger interview and I’m excited to do this. This is giving me the opportunity to get to know my fellow bloggers as well as letting them get to know me. This is a fun little interview that I will enjoy writing.
How did you get into Blogging?
Well, when I left my job as a Developmental Specialist, I had gone on a few interviews and sent my resume out to several potential employers but all to no avail. So, not really knowing what to do I thought of my writing and started doing research. I don’t remember how I came along the blogging. I use google for everything so somehow I ended up at a few blogging tutorials and thought, “What the hell. I’ve got nothing to lose at this point. Might as well try it and see where it takes me.”
What advice would you give to a blogger just starting out?
Well, first I would tell them to do their research. I was going to start with a free blog but since my blog is something that I do want to eventually make money at, I went with self-hosting. I figured if I’m going to do this then I’m going to do it right and do it my way. After you decide which type of blog you want, check YouTube for tutorials. I got an excellent tutorial by Dear Blogger and I found them to be very helpful. I also started asking other bloggers for some feeback and asked questions. One of my first stops was actually Domesticated Momster for which I am so grateful for her help.
How has your blog changed since you started writing it?
I am still in the beginning stages of my blog but what started out just being posts about myself and my boys has turned into so much more. This was my plan from the beginning but I didn’t expect it to take on a life of its own. I plan to make more changes and add more things as I go but my ultimate goal is to get my fiction writing out there and to eventually start to make some money. I’m still figuring it all out though.
What would be your dream campaign?
I don’t know much about this but I would ideally love to use my blog to reach out to people affected by mental illness, Autism, and ADHD to give messages of hope and inspiration to those struggling. I would also like to get some of my creative fiction out there and make some money off of my blog while being able to be at home with my kids. What I have discovered about myself is that maybe this is I’m best suited for. Maybe a traditional job isn’t is the cards for me. We will see though. I haven’t given up that dream just yet.
What advice would you give to PR’s wanting to approach you for a campaign?
I would say that I cannot do it for free. While I would love to help out and advertise and review products, I also need to get paid. My goal is, after all, to start making money so unfortunately I am not able to do any kind of PR for free.
Do you have a plan for you blog?
I do. I want to get my name out there and starting writing for companies. I am currently looking into some freelance work and I do see my blog (or blogs, haven’t decided yet) spreading awareness about Autism, ADHD, and PTSD (as well as other mental illnesses). For now though, I am concentrating on sharing my blog with as many people as I can and getting to know the awesome blogging community that has welcomed me with open arms.
What do you think about rankings?
Honestly, I am so confused by it. I don’t understand the rankings or how to get them or where to view them. I have Google Analytic’s and am active in much of the social media so for now, that’s what I’m concentrating on.
I am tagging the following fellow bloggers. If you weren’t tagged and want to participate, feel free to do so. It’s always nice to get to know my fellow bloggers. Have Fun and Rock On!
